Consultant General Surgeon

We are seeking a Consultant General Surgeon with a broad scope of practice including endoscopy, and basic vascular, urological, breast and paediatric surgery, to support the needs of our community. You will find Tairawhiti District Health a unique environment where you will encounter a diverse range of conditions, treatment procedures and cultural practices. The successful applicant will enjoy the opportunity to practice in a stimulating, non-metropolitan, small coastal hospital setting.

The region has a population of approximately 46,000 and is well known for its relaxed lifestyle and its beautiful rural and beach environments. Local schools are excellent and real estate is affordably priced.

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

• be vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or an equivalent qualification recognised by both the Medical Council of New Zealand and the relevant Conjoint Committee (or equivalent authority) for Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy.
