The NZAGS Executive meet every year to consider the strategic direction of NZAGS by updating the five year strategic plan. The resulting Strategic Plan identifies the following key areas:
- Branding, image & promotion – in particular create a clear identity for NZAGS
- Governance – ensuring that governance structures recognise NZAGS as its own entity
- Education & training – includes ensuring all trainee experience a rural rotation
- Workforce – particular attention on retiring and new consultants
- CPD
- Relationships
- Professional employment services
