Why Your Voice Matters
When NZAGS speaks, we speak for all general surgeons in New Zealand. That voice is only as strong as our membership.
We advocate on your behalf across multiple fronts:
- Workforce planning and work-life balance
- Private health sector contracts and relationships
- Ministry of Health programmes
- Training curriculum development
- Surgeon wellness initiatives
- Medical Council of New Zealand engagement
- Collaboration with subspecialty groups, internationally as well as domestically.
Strong membership means we’re taken seriously by government agencies, insurance companies and healthcare organisations. When Southern Cross, ACC, or the Ministry of Health sits down with NZAGS, they need to know we represent the profession.
To do that effectively, we need you at the table.
